JABAR EKSPRES – TNI Navy Chief of Staff (Kasal) Admiral Muhammad Ali said that two new TNI AL mine counter measure vessels inaugurated this week will strengthen Fleet Command (Koarmada) II.
“This ship will indeed be intended for Koarmada II, for Fleet II, while the ships that are already in Fleet II, maybe later we will consider spreading them to other fleets that do not yet have mine hunting ships,” Admiral Ali said during a press conference after giving awards to outstanding soldiers at the Navy Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday.
Kasal on the same occasion explained that KRI Pulau Fani-731 and KRI Pulau Fanildo-732 adopt the latest technology, not only from the material that uses non-magnetic steel, but also equipped with a degaussing system and electric motor drive that can reduce noise.
“So, this technology is quite current and is a fairly sophisticated mine hunting ship, where the material is non-magnetic steel. So, the material is steel but does not have a magnetic field,” said the Kasal.
The sophistication of the two new Navy minehunters also attracted the attention of the German Navy.
“In fact, Germany also wants to order the ship like the ship that was handed over to the Navy yesterday,” Muhammad Ali said.
Earlier on Friday (26/5), the Kasal led the delivery ceremony of KRI Pulau Fani-731 and KRI Pulau Fanildo-732 at Abeking & Resmussen Shipyard, Lamwerder-Bremen, Germany.
The two new Navy ships are scheduled to depart from the shipyard in Germany to Surabaya, Indonesia, on June 11, 2023 with an estimated voyage time of 35 days.
Head of the Navy Information Service First Admiral I Made Wira Hady on a separate occasion, Tuesday (30/5), said that the Navy sent a total of eight personnel to Germany, four of whom are prospective crew members to take part in training on mine hunting vessels. The training is scheduled to take place in Germany for 39 days.
