“The world also needs to pay attention to the worsening humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. In this regard, Indonesia is committed to providing assistance in the fields of health and education,” Retno said.
In the health sector, to respond to the polio outbreak in Afghanistan and at the request of local authorities and after consulting with the World Health Organization (WHO), Indonesia is ready to provide assistance of 10 million polio vaccines for the Afghan people.
“The process of preparing the vaccine continues to be carried out at this time, both with WHO, UNICEF and BioFarma as the producer of the Polio vaccine,” Retno said.
In the field of education, Indonesia will provide scholarships and capacity building training to Afghan youth, including women.
“For this year, one of the focuses is economic empowerment,” Retno said.
