Eid Al-Fitr 2023: Kulon Progo Police Strengthens Tourist Attraction Security

JABAR EKSPRES –The Kulon Progo Resort Police, Yogyakarta Special Region, has increased security of tourist attractions during the Lebaran 2023 holiday to anticipate congestion and ensure the safety of tourists.

Head of Public Relations of Kulon Progo Police, Iptu Triatmi Noviartuti, in Kulon Progo, Wednesday (26/4), said that during the Eid Al-Fitr 2023 holiday, people used to enjoy tourism in the Kulon Progo district.

“Several tourist attractions are crowded with local Kulon Progo tourists and travelers from outside the city. The number of visitors to beach attractions and Menoreh Hills is quite high, so Kulon Progo Police have increased security,” Noviartuti said in a release.

She said based on data from the Kulon Progo Tourism Office, the number of tourists visiting the region on Tuesday (26/4) reached 21,094 people.

To prevent security disturbances and maintain public safety, Kulon Progo Police secured tourist objects and routes during the Lebaran 2023 holiday.

The activities were carried out by joint personnel consisting of TNI-Polri, local government and also community policing partners. Kulon Progo Police secured at least 17 tourist attractions spread across the Kulon Progo Regency area.

Kulon Progo Police personnel have been deployed in all tourist attractions, both tourist attractions in the water area and in the Menoreh hills, for the hills, police members in addition to tourist sites are also alerted on routes that are considered vulnerable. This is because based on past experience, there are some drivers in hilly locations who experience problems, for example vehicles that are not strong uphill.

In addition, it is because the driver has not mastered the terrain because it is the first time passing through the existing path.

“Security of routes and tourist attractions is carried out optimally to reduce kamtibmas vulnerabilities such as crime, congestion, and potential accidents for visitors. Hundreds of personnel are stationed at tourist attractions to carry out mobile security to vulnerable points,” she said.
