Semarang Zoo Visited by 8,000 Tourists During Eid Holiday

JABAR EKSPRES —The level of visits to Semarang Zoo in Central Java during the Lebaran 2023 holiday reached an average of 8,000 tourists per day, a significant increase compared to ordinary days.

“The average tourist visit is 8,000 people per day. Incidentally, we are holding ‘Zooforia’ during this Lebaran holiday,” said Semarang Zoo Director, Choirul Awaludin, in Semarang on Tuesday (25/4).

Semarang Zoo held “Zooforia” from April 22-30, 2023 to welcome tourists during the Lebaran 2023 holiday with a variety of entertainment and attractions, including animal interaction with visitors.

The level of tourist visits on ordinary days, he said, is in the range of 3,000-4,000 people so that the increase is almost 100 percent for tourist visits during the Lebaran holiday this year.

In fact, Awaludin said that tourist visits on two Lebaran days at the only zoo in the Atlas City reached 8,700 people.

During “Zooforia”, an “animal show” program was prepared at several points that raised a new concept so that visitors could experience direct interaction with animals at Semarang Zoo, which has a collection of 240 animals.

Visitors to Semarang Zoo can interact with aves or various birds and various herbivorous animals, which eat plants and grass.

There are also various rides that visitors can enjoy, such as “play-play” and water tourism.

In addition, he said, several locations have also been prepared as information centers, including health and security posts in collaboration with the police, TNI, and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

He hopes visitors can be more comfortable and safe in traveling at Semarang Zoo with the existence of these information centers because police, TNI, and PMI officers will always be on standby.

“Ticket prices are still the same, no increase. Weekdays Rp20,000, Saturday-Sunday Rp25,000, then national holidays Rp30,000. Tomorrow, Lebaran is a national holiday, so it’s Rp30,000,” said Awaludin.
